Good Afternoon,

Struck-by incidents are a leading cause of death among construction workers,[1] and since 1992 the leading cause of nonfatal injuries in the construction industry.[2] Through an effort coordinated by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA) Construction Sector Council, CPWR – The Center for Construction Research and Training is hosting the first National Stand-Down to Prevent Struck-by Incidents during National Work Zone Awareness Week.

Virtual National Stand-Down:

A free, 1-hour "Virtual National Stand-Down to Prevent Struck-by Incidents – Q&A Panel" is scheduled for April 20, 2020 at 2:00 PM (Eastern). Speakers will include representatives from NIOSH, American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA), Laborers' Health & Safety Fund of North America, Texas Department of Transportation, and Kraemer North America. The panel will provide practical information that stakeholders can use on their job sites to prevent struck-by incidents, and answer questions about struck-by hazards in work zones.
