Hand Sanitizer Safety

Writer's picture: Region IIRegion II

VPPPA shared a very important resource yesterday. We are probably all finding ourselves using a lot more hand sanitizer. Make sure the company you are using is safe to use!

"During the COVID-19 pandemic many of us are increasing our hand sanitizer use. With increased demand, you may have noticed some unfamiliar hand sanitizer brands being distributed. Be sure to check the label & NDC number to verify that the hand sanitizer is safe.

You can read more and verify your hand sanitizer on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's website.

The FDA is warning consumers and health care providers that the agency has seen a sharp increase in hand sanitizer products that are labeled to contain ethanol (also known as ethyl alcohol) but that have tested positive for methanol contamination."
