Reminder - Happening This Saturday - Construction Hike for Hope - Bear Mountain, NY

"As part of the OSHA National Alliance with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), raising awareness, outreach and communication are key to its success in reducing the number of workplace deaths by suicide each year. Did you know that the Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) reported 267 workplace deaths in 2022 and the six-year period from 2017 through 2022, there have been 1,959 deaths by suicide in the workplace? Suicide is a complicated issue for the Agency because it does affect the workplace but also approximately 49,000 people a year die by suicide in the U.S., which mean that if you’re reading this there is a good chance you or your coworker have been affected by the loss of a loved one. With that said and knowing that someone may have a personal interest to participate on their own time, we are sharing information related to an event that AFSP is organizing as part of our Alliance agreement.

The AFSP Westchester/Hudson Valley Chapter is hosting a dedicated Construction Hike for Hope on April 20th in partnership with American Global Construction. AFSP is working directly with a number of construction businesses and hope to get the word out to encourage them to form a team, sponsor and hike with us.

Maria Idoni is Westchester/Hudson Valley AFSP Chapter Area Director

Even though the Agency is not endorsing, sponsoring or officially participating in this event, we feel it is important to share the information and make people aware of the event.
