Red Cross Declares First-ever Blood Crisis

Writer's picture: Region IIRegion II

The American Red Cross is facing a national blood crisis – its worst blood shortage in over a decade, posing a concerning risk to patient care. The Red Cross, which supplies 40% of the nation’s blood supply, has had to limit blood product distributions to hospitals as a result of the shortage. For more information, please see this Red Cross link: https://www.redcrossblood.org/donate-blood/dlp/red-cross-national-blood-shortage-crisis.html

The blood community relies on the generosity of blood donors to help save lives throughout the year. Please share this information with your coworkers and contractors to encourage volunteers to donate blood.
